During the summer I've recently been introduced to a pretty cool book series called Maximum Ride. It's a science fiction/fantasy that begins to really center around Global Warming, but don't let that turn you away from the story, there is so much more.
The series, written by James Patterson, was inspired by two of his earlier books. 'When the Wind Blows' and 'The Lake House'. I haven't read either of those books but after reading Maximum Ride I have decided I would really like to read them.
So far James Patterson has written six books to this series and his seventh is coming out soon. So much happens in this series that I wouldn't be surprised if he just kept on writing them until the end of time.
The story is about six kids who had their DNA mixed with that of birds. 98% of their DNA is human and the other 2% is bird DNA and they were created this way when they were born in a place called the School were other experiments are also being created. One of those experiments are the Erasers, who's DNA is mixed with that of wolves.
The six kids (or the flock as they call themselves) are basically taken away from the School and have to fight against Erasers who are trying to bring them back for more experimentation's. So much happens in this book but mostly it's about the children, who are all under 15 years old, trying to live in a world that they can never be a part of while also trying to escape the clutches of people who would want to hurt and control them.
If I say anymore it would be considered a spoiler but this series is definitely one that mostly anyone can get into. I definitely recommend that you at least give the book a try and see if you like it. Like the saying goes, "Don't knock it till you've tried it!".
