Part I ~ This first part begins before Acheron (Ash) is actually born. His mother is the Goddess of Destruction, Appolymi and his father is Archon, the God of Creation. However, Archon's 3 illigetimate daughters known as "The Fates" have made the prediction that Acheron (Apostolos is the name his true mother gave him) will be responsible for Archon's death and take over the Atlantean Gods...
To protect her unborn child, Appolymi has Acheron (who becomes known as Ash) into a human queens womb with her unborn son (Styxx). Their fates are then tied together. If Acheron dies, so does Styxx.
His human father can't stand the sight of Acheron so this child is put through pure HELL. He's made a sex slave, is constantly tortured, beaten, whipped, even castrated at one point during his life. Even Artemis, who claims to love Acheron rejects him especially on the day of Acheron's death when her brother, Apollo kill's Acheron because he did nothing to save Apollo's mistress and young son. Apollo's mistress is also Acheron's sister, Ryssa. However, Artemis had drugged Acheron the night before with the intent to kill him to keep her secret about her affair with him safe. So he couldn't save Ryssa and knew nothing about it until the next day. Yet, Artemis sits there and watches Apollo gut Acheron most horribly.
Acheron dies, but is brought back to life by Artemis tricking him into drinking some of her blood.
Long story made short....
This is a fabulous part of the story and very much worth the read. We knew before hand that this story would be brutal and it was. The horrors reigned on this man from the day of his birth are horrifying, yet necessary to read in order to understand the character, Acheron.
Part II Ash in the present day and his personal story for love.
Never feeling worthy of love, especially considering he lived as a (and I'm only going to use this word because it was used throughout the story) whore from his young years to that of his death, and even after as that is one of the biggest things Artemis uses to barter with Ash for the souls of the Dark-Hunters, Ash never anticipated finding love.
This story was good, however, it lacked a lot of the indepth feeling I truly anticipated eagerly. We don't see the Mr. Macho Bad Ass God that Ash is, but more of the little boy. I know the little boy still resides in him always seeking the approval and love of those that should have given it to him, but for the difference of his eyes, he would have been a Prince!
At this time, I'm going to leave this as is...However, as other readers read it, please feel free to post your thoughts on this book as well and I'd love to debate the story with others.
